The tests you have to take must appear in your study programme (in Esse3). If there is a case of tests taken irregularly, they will be considered invalid. For the compilation of the study plan, you can consult what is published on the Infostudenti portal.

Language skills required

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science

If you are enrolled in the Computer Science degree course, you are required to pass:

  • an English A2 entrance test. The test must be passed within the first year of course;
  • an English B1 language exam in order to graduate.

You also have the option to take an English B2 language exam, which is preparatory to access the master's degree. The test must be taken mandatorily at the University Language Center (CLA). For this exam, the credit recognition through the presentation of an international language certification is not allowed.
However, we recommend that you also refer to the content of the "Foreign Languages” section of the Department website for your course of study.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer, Communication and Electronic Engineering

Course taught in Italian

If you are enrolled in the degree course taught in Italian, you are required to pass:

  • an English B1entrance test, to be taken if you did not take the additional test "Proof of proficiency in English" in the admission test, passing it with a score equal to or higher than that of the level required by the admission call. The test must be passed within the first year of course;
  • a proof of proficiency in English at B2 level in order to graduate. It is also possible to take an English C1 proficiency test as an exam of your choice. However, we recommend that you also refer to the "Foreign languages" section of the Department website for your course of study.

Course taught in English

If you are enrolled in the degree course taught in English (Information, Communication and Electronic Engineering) offered since the academic year 2022/23, you are required to pass:

  • an English B2 entrance test, to be taken if you did not take the additional test "Proof of proficiency in English" in the admission test, passing it with a score equal to or higher than that of the level required by the admission call. The test must be passed within the first year of course;
  • a proof of proficiency in English at C1 level, in order to graduate. Alternatively, you can choose to attend and pass the Technical English course. A mandatory attendance of at least 75% of the lessons is required to take the final exam of the course.

Foreign students who do not have the possibility to demonstrate their knowledge of Italian, will have to take an Italian A1 proficiency test instead of an English proficiency test. However, we recommend that you also refer to the "Foreign languages" section of the Department website for your course of study.

Degree in Computer, Communication and Electronic Engineering

If you are enrolled in the Information and Communications Engineering degree course, you are required to pass:

  • an English A2 entrance test. The test must be passed within the first year of course;
  • a proof of proficiency in English at B1 level in order to graduate.

If you are enrolled in the degree course in Information and Business Organization Engineering, you are required to pass:

You also have the option to take an English B2 proficiency test, which is preparatory to access the master's degree. The test must be taken mandatorily at the University Language Center
(CLA). For this exam, the credit recognition through the presentation of an international language certification is not allowed.

Master's Degree in Computer Science

Computer Science and Technologies course: 

  • Students who are not Italian citizens must demonstrate their knowledge of Italian (level A1 - 3 credits) by the end of the course. It is possible to prove the knowledge of Italian by taking an A1-level proficiency test at the CLA. Students also have the option to take an A2 proficiency test (6 credits) for a total of maximum 6 credits.
  • All enrolled students, both Italian and non-Italian, have the possibility to take one or more of the following educational activities as an exam of their choice:

Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence System (AIS)

Students enrolled since the academic year 2022/23

This master’s course offers the possibility to enroll in the Technical English course as a didactic activity of your choice. A mandatory attendance of at least 75% of the lessons is required to take the final exam of the course.

Students enrolled until the academic year 2021/22

The master’s degree requires the mandatory attendance of the Technical English course. A mandatory attendance of at least 75% of the lessons is required to take the final exam of the course.

Non-Italian native speakers must also pass an Italian A1 proficiency test.

Master's Degree in Information and Communications Engineering

This master’s course offers the possibility to enroll in the Technical English course as a didactic activity of your choice. A mandatory attendance of at least 75% of the lessons is required to take the final exam of the course.

Acknowledgement of language certificates

Students who have a language certification (acknowledged at international level as well as by the University of Trento) can send the certificate to the Academic and Student Services of their Department, in order to be accredited the credits related to the exam, without the need to take the entrance test/language exam for the first or second language.
