Result of the written tests

  • Reading test: you will see the outcome (pass or fail) on the screen of the computer used, immediately at the end of that part of the test.
  • Listening test: as for the Reading test, you will see the outcome on the screen of the computer used, immediately at the end of that part of the test.
  • Writing task: the Writing task is checked and marked by a language teacher (CEL), therefore the outcome will be published starting from Wednesday of the week following the written test. In order to see your result you have to enter the administrative platform.

Outcome of the Speaking test

Within two to three days from the Speaking test, you must enter the administrative platform. If you passed the oral test, the examining teacher will report the result in your records (the test will appear in Esse3 as “passed/superato/idoneo”).

What in case of failing?

Written tests

In the complete language tests, which includes Reading Comprehension (RC), Listening Comprehension (LC), Writing Production (WP) and Speaking (S), if:

you do not pass RC

  • you cannot procede with the other parts of the test
  • you must wait 60 days before attempting RC again (30 days for the English B2 specialist test of the single-cycle degrees and the DICAM (Engineering) master's degrees)

you pass RC, but not LC:

  • you may attempt LC again starting from this part
  • you must attempt LC again within 59 days of the first attempt

you pass RC and LC, but not WP:

  • you may attempt WP again starting from this part
  • you must attempt WP again within 59 days of the first attempt 

you pass WP as well:

  • you can enroll to the Speaking (S)
  • you take the Speaking within 35 days after passing WP, otherwise you must retake the entire test starting from RC!

IMPORTANT: If you do not pass WP in the following specific tests:

  • PSPO_EN_B1 tests (i.e. B1 written and oral test) for the DEM (Economics and Management) bachelor's degrees in italian, you must wait for the next available writing test;
  • the English for the faculty of Economics (A.D. 121446) for the DEM (Economics and Management) master’s degrees, you must wait for the next available writing test.

Oral test

In the complete language tests, which includes Reading Comprehension (RC), Listening Comprehension (LC), Writing Production (WP) and Speaking (S), if:

  • you do not pass the Speaking (1st attempt)

    • you can attempt it a second time within 35 days from the date of WP

  • you do not pass the Speaking (2nd attempt)

    • you cannot attempt the Speaking again and you must retake the entire test from the beginning after 60 days from the written exam.

Exceptions: Waiting time is 30 days for the English B2 specialist test of the single-cycle degrees and the DICAM (Engineering) master's degrees and the first writing test call available for the PSPO_EN_B1 tests (i.e. B1 written and oral test) for the DEM (Economics and Management) bachelor's degrees in Italian AND English for the faculty of Economics (A.D. 121446) for the DEM (Economics and Management) master’s degrees.

How to receive information about a failed test

In order to receive information on the reasons why you failed the test, you can ask for an appointment with the tutorial service with a CLA language teacher (CEL) where you can ask to see your failed test.
