The tests you have to take must appear in your study programme (in Esse3). If there is a case of tests taken irregularly, they will be considered invalid. For the compilation of the study plan, you can consult what is published on the Infostudenti portal.
Language skills required
Degree in Cultural Heritage
Enrolled since a.y. 2018/2019
If you are registered in the Degree in Cultural Heritage and you have been enrolled since 2018/2019, you need to pass the following:
-
a B1 entry test in a language of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish (to be passed within the first academic year);
-
2 language exams:
- first language: a B2 level exam (in the same language you chose for the entry test);
- second language: an A2 level language exam of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish (different from the entry test language / first language).
Please Note: the second language exam is composed of two parts: a reading comprehension and a listening comprehension, exactly as in the entry test.

Enrolled up to a.y. 2017/2018
If you are registered in the Degree in Cultural Heritage and you enrolled not later than 2017/2018, you need to pass:
- a B1 entry test in a language of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish (to be passed within the first academic year);
- 2 language exams
- first language: a B2 level exam (in the same language you chose for the entry test);
- second language: an A2 level language exam of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish (different from the entry test language / first language).

Degree in Philosophy
If you are registered in the Degree in Philosophy, you need to pass a B1 level language exam in a language of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish.
Degree in Historical, Philological and Literary Studies
If you are registered in the Degree in Historical, Philological and Literary Studies, you need to pass a B1 level language exam in a language of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish.

Master’s Degree in Philosophy and the “Languages” of the Modern Period
If you are registered in the Master’s Degree in Philosophy and the “Languages” of the Modern Period, you need to pass a B2 level language exam in a language of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish.
Alternatively, it is possible to take further language exams, which are described in detail on the department’s website for your course of study, in the section “Foreign languages”.
Master’s Degree in Art History and Museum Studies
If you are registered in the Master’s Degree in Art History and Museum Studies, you need to pass a B2 level language exam in a language of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish.
Interfaculty Master’s Degree in Scientific History
If you are registered in the Interfaculty Master’s Degree in Scientific History, you need to pass a B2 level language exam in a language of your choice between English, French, German or Spanish.

Recognition of Language Certificates
If you have a language certificate, which is internationally recognized and also recognised by the University of Trento, you can send the certificate to the education and student management office of your department (Ufficio Offerta Formativa e Gestione Studenti) for the recognition of credits and exemption from the requirement to take an entry test / first or second language exam. The certificate must be in the list of recognised language certificates to be awarded credits (CFU) and will be seen as having a validity of 5 years from the issue date, if no expiry date is given. In addition, you have to comply with the following when presenting your certificate:
- it must be sent following the indications given by the department’s student support office (supportostudentilettsoc@unitn.it);
- it must be a readable PDF document if sent by email or through apply.
