The project

The Intercomprehension, plurilingualism and reading strategies workshop aims at developing linguistic communicative, intercultural and transversal comprehension skills by approaching unknown languages through the intercomprehension methodology, which is a fundamental transversal skill in consideration of the high number of languages with which we all come across for reasons related to study, travelling and work.

Moreover, the skills that will be developed will also improve the ability to read and study both in Italian and in foreign languages.

Students will work in a multilingual and intercultural environment with teachers of different Romance languages; working with texts in different languages will enable them to recognize and use the mechanisms that similar languages have in common. Thanks to this process they will develop their reading comprehension skills and reading strategies as well as their own communication strategies, which are important requirements during their educational pathway. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to work cooperatively with speakers of different Romance languages, taking up the challenge and use multiple communication strategies.

How does it works?

The Workshop will offer group activities involving Italian and international students on texts written in French, Italian and Spanish, with references to texts in other Romance languages, such as Portuguese or Romanian.

The Workshop will be delivered in blended mode:
•    30 hours of face-to-face lessons (1 weekly 2-hour-and-a-quarter class)
•    10 hours of asynchronous autonomous and online group study on the Moodle platform (between face-to-face lessons)
