Course admission requirements
In order to attend the course you must be at least 16 years of age.
In order to know your level in a language and therefore which course level to enrol for, you need to take a placement test.
However, this test is NOT necessary if you:
- are a complete beginner (you have no knowledge of the language), in which case you can enrol directly on an A1a/A1 course;
- have successfully completed a CLA course one level below the level of the course you are interested in (as long as you passed the course within the last twelve months)
- have passed the language exam that is specified in your degree course programme (the exam must be registered in Esse3)
- have a language certificate that is included on the list of “language certificates recognised at the international level”. If the certificate has not already been uploaded in Esse3, in order to enrol in the courses it is necessary to submit the certificate to the CLA Secretariat by accessing your personal area on U-Gov CLA and opening a Support request (for the complete procedure, please refer to the PDF guidelines: U-Gov CLA guidelines – Courses area).
For external users / entities affiliated with the University of Trento, before registering you must:
-
register for the services of the University Language Centre by filling out the online application. You must have an Italian tax code;
-
wait for an email from the CLA Office (within 5 working days of submission) with instructions on how to access U-GOV CLA, take the placement test, and/or register for courses.
Enrolments
Enrolments for courses open a few weeks before the courses start.
The registration procedures are specified on the pages for enrolling on the various types of courses. If in-person registration is required, please go to the CLA office with a valid ID (identity card, driver’s license, or passport), or authorize someone else to register on your behalf by filling out the delegation form and attaching a copy of your ID.
UniTrento students who need to pass the language proficiency test for the first and/or second language required by their degree program have priority when enrolling. Enrollment will be free for one course at each level, until they reach the language level required for the exam.
If you register for free and then decide to withdraw from the course, you can cancel your enrollment independently by accessing your personal area on U-Gov CLA (in the Dashboard, under the “Orders” section of the menu), within the deadline indicated on the website for each course session.
If you fail to withdraw in time, a second enrollment at the same course level will require a payment of 50.00 euros.
Students participating in outgoing exchange programs are entitled to one free enrollment in a course of the language spoken in their destination country.
If the course is full, you may register for the “waiting list". This means you are not yet officially enrolled, but if spots become available, you will be contacted based on your order of registration (payment should therefore be made only after you have been contacted).
If you have paid for a course and wish to withdraw, you may request a refund (only if you have attended at most one class) by completing this online application, or you may choose to keep the fee valid for a later course within the same year in which you paid.
If you request a refund for personal reasons and you are not a UniTrento student, the mandatory stamp duty will be withheld (applies only to fees ≥ 100.00 euros).
Payment
After enrolling, the tuition fee must be paid through the PagoPA Atenei electronic payment system:
- by credit or debit card
- from your current account through a PagoPA partner bank
- by other payment methods (Satispay, BancomatPay, PostePay, iConto, PayTipper)
Enrolment will be considered confirmed only if payment is done by 12 noon of the day after enrolling. For those who enrol on Fridays, payment must be done by 12 noon on the following Monday.
Before, during and after the course
Before
Check the list of courses that will be activated at course calendar. If your course is cancelled (due to not enough students enrolling), you will be informed by email by the CLA Secretary’s Office, and you can ask for the enrolment fee back by filling out this online application , or you can opt to use the money for a future course, to be done within the same year in which you paid the fee.
You can ask for a refund even if you decide that you cannot follow the course anymore for personal reasons. In this case, the refund can only be granted if you have attended one lesson at most.
Students enrolling during the re-opening enrolments periods, before going to the lesson, will have to connect to the CLA Moodle page and log in at least once, so as to be enrolled by the teacher in the course's online community.
For the courses taught online through Zoom system, you'll receive an email before the beginning of the lessons with the procedure to follow to enter the course in Didattica Online (Moodle).
You must buy the course book before the start of the course.
During
If you do not attend the first three lessons of the course without a valid reason (e.g. illness, being away on a Trento University exchange programme, etc.), you lose the right to attend the course.
You can change course, up to and including the third lesson, only if there are free places in the new course. After the third lesson changes will not be accepted. You need to fill out a form at the CLA Secretary’s Office or send an email to cla@unitn.it. Note that you can only move to a higher course with the written permission of the teacher of the course you enrolled in.
After
If you pass the course / final test (where required) and have attended at least 75% of the lessons, you can download and print your certificate of attendance directly from your personal Ugov-CLA area, in the “Career” section under “Completed Courses,” by clicking on the card of your course.
You can enroll in the next course level within one year from the end date of the previous level. If you have obtained only the attendance certification but have not passed the course, you must take the online placement test in order to access the next level.
Assessment
At the end of the courses, after the results have been published, you will receive an email from the teacher with a link where you can view them.
