Language Certifications Recognized by the University of Trento

Are you a student at the University of Trento and do you hold an international language certification? Recognized certifications are divided into two main categories:

1. To obtain academic credits (CFU)

If you have one of the international certifications listed in the charts of the University Language Center (CLA), you will not have to take the language exam required by your study program.

How to Request Recognition:

  • contact your Department’s Academic Programs and Student Services Office to inquire about the procedures and deadlines to submit the certificate;
  • if you are enrolled in Economics and Management, Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering, Sociology and Social Research, and C3A (Center Agriculture, Food, Environment), consult your specific Department website, as there may be additional instructions.
  • if you are enrolled in the School of International Studies, consult the School directly.
 

2. For admission to study programs, international mobility, and access to CLA courses 

These certifications are useful for:

  • Admission to Study Programs: if a degree course requires specific language proficiency, these certifications can satisfy the requirement.
  • International Mobility Programs (e.g., Erasmus): you can apply for and participate in international exchanges.
  • Access to CLA Courses: you will not need to take the placement test to enroll in CLA language courses at a level higher than that of your certification.

How to Request Recognition:

  • for admission to study programs: contact your Department’s Academic Programs and Student Services Office regarding procedures and deadlines.
  • for international mobility: submit your certification to the International Mobility Offices.
  • for access to CLA courses: if your certificate is not already registered on Esse3 (the student management system), you must upload it to the CLA management system (Ugov-CLA) in the "Supporto" (Support) section of your dashboard, before enrolling in the course.
  • if you are from Economics and Management, Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, School of International Studies or C3A, consult your specific Department website.

Certification Validity

Certifications recognized by the CLA are valid for 5 years from the date of issue, unless the certification itself indicates a different expiration date.
